Fertile Coturnix Quail Hatching Eggs (24 Eggs)

The media could not be loaded. I'm sure much like anyone seeing quail eggs on Amazon and deciding whether or not to buy, I had absolutely no idea what to expect.This is our first time hatching quail, or any eggs for that matter. We would have counted it a win if maybe only 5-6 of our 24 developed, so we pulled the trigger and gave it a shot. Now here we are one week in with 18 fertile eggs, all with clear signs of development as shown in the picture and video included (the video starts a little fuzzy but I did get it to focus on the end).They arrived neatly packed in plastic quail egg trays blunt side up, with each egg packed in a little tissue for extra assurance. The box was lined with extra paper and empty mailers and was clearly marked as fragile. I wasn't sure how much care the post office had shown them when they arrived on their side, but we only spotted one really teeny crack on one egg.We're using an Everygrow automated incubator that we also got on Amazon, supplemented with a Govee thermo-hygrometer since the sensor in the incubator is a little off. We've been aiming for 99.5 - 100F and 40-50% humidity, but there's certainly been deviation. Still, it's day 8 that I finally broke down and candled them, and they look fantastic.Assuming all goes well, I'll update with their hatch rate and overall survival rate and hopefully pay some quail tax with some extra photos of baby chicks in a week or two (unless I completely forget).

I bought these quail eggs to incubate and unfortunately 6 of the twenty four eggs I received were cracked. With several others not the best quality. Would not recommend. Update, after incubation I got 3 quail, most eggs show no growth under candling, some started then died likely from cracks in shell letting bacteria in. So I payed over $10 a bird. Terrible value and no way I would even pay shipping to have the same thing sent again. Bad deal.

This was my first time hatching quail eggs.70% hatch rate. They all hatched on day 21 except one on day 22. Great product and I’m ready to buy again.

My first order I ordered 24 and received 30. 16 hatched out of that batch. My second order I ordered 48 and receive 60. 30 hatched out of that batch. When incubating eggs my quail have hatched I usually get 75/80% hatch rate! It either has to do with egg quality or maybe shipping? Not sure! The ones I have hatched have a great survival rate and beautiful colors!!!

This has been a difficult struggle to take care of the quail from this struggle. I am sure other people will have a very different experience than i did but let me tell you about my story to hopefully help others have a better time.On November 10th i purchased one batch of 25 eggs. it took a number of days for it to arrive and i was excited to get started. upon arrival i was amazed at the quality of the packaging, not a single egg had broken, my incubator (model JANOEL12, not the greatest but it had great success incubating chickens and ducks in the past) was already set up in preparation for their arrival, in the package there was a set of instructions that i stuck directly to the incubator and to my delight there was 31 eggs instead of only 25. i tried to follow the instructions carefully, granted i did open the incubator a few times after day 14.to my understanding and googling the information, baby quail are usually said to hatch around day 14 to 18 or so. give or take a few days. this has not been the case for me. ill explain.by day 25 i began seeing quail hatch. only 5 or 6 hatched however. all of which had curlfoot issues except for 1 which was healthy. but within a day several of them had died. my setup consisted of the incubator and a box with foliage, leaves, seeds, dirt, mealworms, a waterer and shredded carrots, salad, beats, celery for stuff for them to graze, all shredded in tiny bits for them to easily get. in the box was a temperature controlled space kept at the 99 F. granted this is not a perfectly ideal setup but its everything theyd need to survive and thrive in the wild.the single healthy one survived a number of days quite well. until it didnt of course. one day it just died.i contacted the seller and started a polite conversation about low hatch rates. i determined that i had set up the incubator wrong and they sent a new batch. a number of days later they arrived. by this time i had cleaned and set up my incubator again, this time i checked the temperature with other thermometers carefully for accuracy and determined that it was accurate (the instructions mention to do this) needless to say, i followed the instructions with extreme care this round. once again, by day 25 i saw 3 hatch. all healthy and no issues. day 26, another 3 and day 27 one more. by day 28 there were no more hatches so i began cracking the eggs open carefully and noticed that around 40% or so were still yellow yolk (the first batch only had a few yellow yolk) and the rest were partly developed aside from 2 others which died fully developed in the egg.so, at this point i have 7 healthy babies. all of which were doing quite well in my setup. following the instructions and google it was suggested to lower the temperature by 5 per week. (so i did like 1 degree per day and skipped a couple days) during the nights i was going to keep the remaining quail in the incubator after removing the eggs and cleaning the incubator, providing food and water and such. but the day i tried that (day 28) 3 of them died by the next morning.for the remaining 4, i decided to be more careful and not transfer them into the incubator but instead i switched to regulating the temperature of the entire foliage box. for the record to regulate the temperature im using a thing called "reptemp digital thermostat. model RT-600" which i can plug a heat lamp/mat etc into and it turns it on and off depending on the temperature i set it to after putting the thermometer in the spot/area i want regulated.needless to say, yesterday morning the second to last quail died. today the last one died this morning. now, ive seen them eat healthily, drink, run around and be playful. kept their temperature where it needed to be. in the wild they would have been subjected to harsh environments, i have memories of when i was a child and there would be frost on the ground and id see groups of quail grazing the ground for food.so at the end of the day, what went wrong? the seller selling low quality eggs? my caveman, non perfect/suboptimal setup? perhaps the transportation of the eggs?i think for the ones that hatched, i expected too much from the "coturnix" quail. this is my theory. the genetics are no longer able to handle hardly anything other than absolute perfect conditions. im sure they are much more hardy once they are adults.the ones that didnt hatch, i think could partly be due to my incubator is not intended for quail. also the trip can be harsh. im not putting the blame on the seller. those of you with bad experiences i think are dealing with a breed of quail that simply cannot handle ANYthing out of the realm of absolute perfection. though i cant test this theory because to do that id need the money to be able to afford the "perfect" setup.the ones that were still yellow yolk, okay so 40% isnt great. but i will say, 20$ for 15 or so live quail (if you have that perfect setup to get them to live) is far better than youll find in other places most likely. for instance my local feed store sells quail for 10$ per quail.why wouldnt i put this review at 1 star? because i genuinely believe the seller is doing their best. this isnt an exact science. the seller even sent me that extra batch of 31 quail for me to try again. and these arent hardy birds that can handle conditions like this. perhaps ill try buying (or catching) a wild quail and breeding them with coturnix to re introduce the gene that i believe coturnix quail have lost in the years. i hear coturnix quail rarely ever even go broody.and thats my story. thanks for listening. this has been honestly heartbreaking because i love animals. i hope you learned something from my mistakes.

We had a wonderful hatch rate with our quail eggs. They came very nicely packaged and all arrived safe (we ordered 24 and got 26). After 19 days in the incubator they started hatching! We continued to get more everyday for a whole week! In the end we had 18 hatch and 16 are surviving and thriving!!! It’s our biggest hatching batch yet! I will definitely be ordering from this selling again next spring!!!

The media could not be loaded. All 24 eggs arrived, however before removing eggs from packaging I found four badly broken. Broken eggs are inevitable as too much calcium and baby’s can’t get out.. leading to low hatch, not enough and they break. Hard to be upset about.Messaged seller and to my surprise within hours I was refunded for the broken ones! Hats off to the seller on that one.Once I had the incubator set up I candled the remaining 20 eggs and 5 more were cracked more than 50% around. Regardless I incubated all 20. Ended up with 2 hatch day 17, 5 on day 19. All in all worse hatch rate than anticipated, roughly $4.30/per bird. Opened the rest of the eggs today, day 20 and none of them looked fertilized.Might consider a different route when it’s time to bring new blood to my flock againI wish it would have been better… but it is what it is, you can’t win them all
