It's pretty noisy. But nothing too terrible. Certainly tolerable. IMO, the price offsets the noise because exactly how quiet are the top-of-the-line ones vs these models? I have 3 lavs on my boat, two are these electic flush, the other is manual. These are way less noisy than hearing someone manually pump the other lav in a the other hull. I'm not sure how quiet you can get these as it's the macerator pump that's generating most of the noise. That said I was on a Lagoon 62 charter last year in Australia and it's lavs seemed whisper quiet. But we were underway so it's hard to tell how much of that noise was being offset by the waterflow on the hulls.

Q: Can the discharge hose be mounted on either side? the newport toilet I have now has all hookups on the left side.

The bowl can be positioned at 000, 090, 180, and 270 degrees so yes the discharge can be oriented to the left side but the motor would stick out in front. The water inlet would then be on the right side. Would look wierd but would work. The 1 inch discharge is a 90 degree elbow to the rear in normal orientation.

You can rotate the bottom at 90 degree intervals. I hade to move mine 90 degrees to install. It took just. A couple minutes and fit perfect.
