Needed this to complete a trailer rebuild, had it in hand the next morning. Easy install, and trailer was sold the next day.

Works perfectly

I did a little arc welding on my new trailer. I had read warnings to disconnect electronic devices before doing so, but I sort of regarded them as I did many of my mom's warnings as a kid. For some strange reason, my breakaway controller quit working around the same time.So, anyhow, the Jack Boss Upgraded Trailer Breakaway Kit was a perfect replacement, and now I've got a spare 5 AH battery. This new product came fully charged and functional. Follow the wiring instructions on the label because the instructions enclosed in the box don't make it clear that there's a blue wire and that it goes to the breakaway switch (not the brakes as the label says either).All-in all, seems to be a good system, priced in the ballpark with others. No mounting screws or wire connectors included, so plan for that.

I would have hoped that this was a sealed unit to keep moisture out but the front cover only pushes over the plastic base with no gasket or seal. Also no rubber grommet to seal wires entering from the back of the box. Also no fasteners were provided and if they were I would hope that they would be stainless steel.

My husband gave this 5 stars and recommends this to anyone who has to hitch up.I recommend this product.
