The fox's head hinges at the top and strikes onto the back plate, which is the fox's body. Easy to attach to your door with the two supplied brass screws. The whole knocker is solid and heavy. Provides a resounding 'knock'. Dimensions: The backplate measures 240mm (9½") high by 62mm (2½") wide. The head is 92mm (3⅔") wide and stands out 60mm (2⅓") from the door. Screw holes are 118mm (4⅔") apart (centre to centre). Weight is 0.65kg. How they are made Sand casting is a traditional foundry skill. Molten brass is poured into sand moulds formed from an antique pattern. When the brass is cool, the casts are hand-finished and polished. This makes an authentic antique style.
