Wood mousetrap vehicle kit provides students in grades 6-12 a hands-on activity to design, build, and modify a model car that demonstrates the scientific concepts of velocity, force, motion, and Newton's laws of physics.
Includes parts required to build a vehicle propelled by a mousetrap for teaching engineering design.
Exposes students to the design process and encourages them to experiment and modify the vehicle for greater speed or distance.
Reinforces technology, engineering, and math concepts as students modify cars based on factors that impact performance.
Finished vehicle measures approximately 4.5 x 5 x 26.5 inches (H x W x D).

This is a complete start-to-finish design activity. Students follow the design process and see direct applications of science and technology as they design and build a mousetrap-powered vehicle and compete with classmates to design the fastest or farthest-traveling car. Each kit includes balsa wood, four CDs (for wheels), CD spacers, thrust washers, brass tubing, string, and building instructions. Requires ruler, hobby , wire cutter, and a drill or Dremel tool.
