Good buy. For me, better than iRIg HD.
**UPDATE TWO MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE**Appears to have given up the ghost. Can't get either inputs to produce a signal. Sending back to Amazon for refund.-----------I bought this as a replacement for my iRIg HD because I wanted something that could record a stereo output from stomp boxes.Out of the box it's everything you expect it to be - made in china, of plastic, but seems solid enough. My issues are mostly based around the stereo input:First annoyance is that the stereo input is not enabled on the 1/4" input but the 3.5mm input. Means you'll need to use downsizers if, like me, you want to run a stereo footpedal pedal into it.Second annoyance is the fact I couldn't find any help in getting it to run in stereo in grarageband on an iPad. Following the instructions I installed and launched the mobile pod app which seems to give no option to select a single or stereo channel.Eventually, I figured out you don't need to launch the mobile pod app. Simply launch GB as you would, select an instrument that allows you to record an input signal and then select "mobile pod" from the list of available inputs. Gorgeous stereo reverb and delay from my zoom cdr. Nice.Haven't used the mobile pod app so can't comment on that but if any of the other L6 offerings are anything to go by, it'll be ok.There's a section in the manual that says "run the headphones from the sonic port for a superior audio experience" - this is utter crap. The headphone out is noisy with TONNES of crossover from the input. Don't touch it with a barge pole. Use the headphone socket on your iOS device instead.Annoyed that Amazon dropped the price 8 quid the day they delivered it too.All in all, not a bad little device. Buy it over an iRig HD for more input / output options

Good product, greatly let down by the lack of a user manual
The product Sonic Port by Line 6 is excellent. However, I have to downgrade my score because of the poor quality of the user manual provided. It comes with a small booklet that looks adequate at first sight, then you realise it’s in eight languages and you only get the simplest of instructions to set it up and operate it.For example, it tells you the following: there are several ways of adjusting the volume 1) there’s the volume knob on your guitar, 2) there’s the volume and gain knobs on your real amplifier and 3) there’s the volume and gain knobs on your software amplifier (the one that appears on your iPad or iPhone. What it fails to inform you is that the master volume is controlled by the volume control on your iPad or iPhone.Once you own a Sonic Port you can download for free from the App Store the software that accompanies it. It’s called “Mobile POD” The Sonic Port instruction book tells you how to do this and gives you a website address (URL) where you can download a user manual for the software in the language of your choice. Great! Except that this URL does not exist, neither is the manual hidden elsewhere on Line 6’s website. This software Mobile POD is good but it is not intuitive. It took me ages to work out how to use it and I’m not sure I’ve sussed it all yet! A query to customer services brought the reply: “The manual you describe does not exist and we do not have any plans to write one. Try searching YouTube.”I am appalled at the audacity of a company that sells a product ‘complete with instructions’ then casually tells their customer that such instructions don’t exist and that they should seek help elsewhere. I’d send it back only I’d be punishing the retailer not Line 6.Hence my rating of two stars

Great Gear. Would be 4/5 stars were it not for issues with accompanying app
I bought this as a birthday present to myself and have not regretted a thing. The sound quality of the the effects and amps is superb. I've been using my Fender Squire Strat and I've mostly beeen using it with headphones, so that my practicing doesn't bother anyone, but through a 100 watt Marshall Valvestate the sound is reproduced almost identically (with some of the amps own nuance thrown in)I have been using the Line 6 app on IOS and it works perfectly, however some third party apps like Tonebridge, while they work, can experience a slight delay. The build quality is pretty sturdy, although the cable connecting the port to the device seems a bit flimsy, and uses a Line 6 connector so replacements would have to be from them. The size is small enough to fit into a guitar case. The only real criticism I have is for the app itself. While there are tonnes of presets that can be adjusted and changed, I have yet to find how yo can add and save your own custom tone, or download the custom tones from the user community, as far as I can gather that functionality has been removed in the latest app update.

Works now..
Dusted off my Sonic Port a few months back only to discover it no longer worked in iOS 13, chucked it in a drawer and wrote it off as junk. For some reason decided to give it another go and it now works! Air 2 and iOS 13.4.1. Loses a star for having no way to power the iPad whilst using it, which can be a pain for longer sessions with recording, synths, sequencing etc apps draining the battery too.

DOES NOT WORK ON 4TH GENERATION IPOD TOUCH - Needs OS7 or higher, 4th gen iPod cannot be updated beyond OS6
item arrived before due date which was good, unfortunately I haven't had a chance to try it yet as even though the product is described as will work with iPod touch, the Mobile Pod App will not work with the 4th Generation iPod touch as the device needs to run on OS7 or higher and the 4th Gen iPod will only update beyond OS6 because of its limited RAM. I'm a bit disappointed but plan to purchase a new iPad soon so don't feel too bad about it. I hasten to add that the seller is not entirely to blame, as even the printed instructions that come with the device state that it will work with iPod Touch 4th & 5th gen. I plan to contact Line 6 regarding this
