I have now bought 3 sets of the remote control sockets, two for myself and one for a friend. They are very easy to set up (I'm not particularly techy) even the correct batteries are included in the box; all very well packaged. I use a lot of lamps in my home and these are a godsend. Rather than having an expensive rewire to operate lamps from one main switch, these sockets do the job really well. There's only one place I had to move furniture a little to accommodate the socket. NB if your power goes off while lamps are on, they won't relight automatically, you'll need to use the hand set again. I'm sure they save electricity, because I can so easily turn off lamps I don't need.Unfortunately, the set I bought for my friend, malfunctioned on first use! But Etekcity responded so well and quickly, replacing them with a better set as the original model wasn't currently in stock. As a result I've still given them FIVE stars. Really good product.

I bought a three pack of these remote plugs which come with two remotes. This has allowed me to set up two lamps in the sitting room and another lamp in the bedroom. I'm living in a two storey house and the remotes can transfer the signal through walls and to switches behind cabinets so a line of sight isn't required. This is particularly useful for the awkward to reach plugs in the sitting room, and when I'm going to bed I can turn on the lamp remotely from downstairs so that the light is on in the room when I get upstairs. I have the plugs three years now and they are still working fine.

I bought these for my ageing father so he no longer needs to fiddle with switches for table lamps around his flat. Easy to set up and reprogramme so lights operate in groups. Only constructive comment is that it would be great if we could order more remote controls to dot a few more around the place for him.

Purchased two sets to replace a product that was recalled by B&Q (possibility of overheating and catching fire!) The configuration of two remotes and three plugs was ideal for me as I use it to switch on lamps in the lounge and bedroom - and it leaves me with one spare plug to use for Christmas lights etc. Although more expensive than the product it replaced it looks, feels and operates as a much superior product. Everything is ready to use right out of the box, no messing with switches to code the units up. The range of the units is amazing, I can control lights down stairs from the bedroom. The plug units are larger than the ones they replaced, but have a far higher power handling capacity - 2.4Kw. The remotes feel good to handle with nice positive button presses and a red led that lets you know it has operated and the state of the internal battery. The one thing I don't like is the American product logo on the plugs - Zap, but that's a personal thing. I would buy again and have already recommended them to my friends.

The product comprises 2 identical remote controllers and 3 identical switches. Each switch responds to a different pair of buttons (ON - OFF) on the controllers using a different signal emitted by the controllers. The controller can operate up to 5 switches (or channels) but only 3 switches are supplied. It is simplicity itself to operate the switches and the range over which the signals operate is impressive. Batteries are supplied with the 2 controllers. The switches themselves derive power from the mains-powered sockets into which they are inserted so that no batteries are required to operate them.A WARNING -I have updated this review after contacting the seller to warn that the seller is unable to supply additional switches, making 5 in total, so that all 5 switches operate from separate frequencies. Additional switches can be obtained but they will most probably operate on the same frequencies as those switches already provided. This can result in confusion and there is a slight chance of danger, if more than once switch operates per pair of buttons. Ideally it should be possible to buy an additional 2 switches so that each operates independently.I have not found a method of advising Amazon of this problem so I have elected to update my review instead.The 3 switches and 2 controllers in my possession work very well together, hence I have awarded 5-stars. The problem only manifests if the buyer wants additional switches to complement the 3 switches he/she already owns.

This item is simply brilliant. Moved into new home with no central light in main room, only side lights. Now we can switch all the side lights on from the front hall as we enter the house, and the second handset allows us to control the lights from within the main family room. It is simply plug and play. The light sockets are associated with the numbers 1,2,3 on the hand set in the same order you plug the controllers into the sockets when you first use them. I have bought 2 more sets of this item for upstairs and a gift ... this is a great item for the price, you will not be disappointed.

Solid looking construction that does the job without fuss. The socket that is switched on displays a neon which is very helpful and each unit is labelled to show the number of the socket that matches the number on the remote. I noticed, only once the delivery was made, that the control units are for a maximum of 4 remotely operable sockets, whereas I had ordered just the three units.
