Fits 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX

Needed a new turbo and this worked perfectly. Easy to install and everything fit great. I have had it on my WRX for a little over a year and it’s still going strong. I’ve put about 10k miles on it and haven’t had any issue. I do not beat on my car and only hit boost when passing cars or getting up to highway speeds. Great for a daily wrx. Can’t beat the value of this turbo. Recommend if you need a turbo and don’t beat on your car.

Wastegate broken :(

It came broken and I had no other choice but to swap the old wastegate from my old turbo because it's my only car and I needed it running. Just kinda sucks :(

Great turbo for the price you pay!

Came with everything they promise you with, bolts right up to your existing TD04 removal. So far I have had no issues with It at all, works like a charm!I bought this In 2019… It’s 2021 June 16.. It’s still going!!! Worth the buy!

20,000 miles later and still strong!

There were a couple hiccups when it came to install. I had to use longer bolts to secure turbo to downpipe and the cold side outlet is a little shorter than OEM turbo. It's not an issue with silicone y pipe that connects to intercooler. It has lasted over 20k miles! Mostly highway driving and I dont beat on the car very much. Wastegate pressure maxed at 12 psi from out of the package but some simple adjustments can get it to 17psi as oem turbo was set at. Overall I am very berry pleased with maxspeedingrods td04 turbo!

Not bad for the price but multiple mods required to install

I installed this on our 2002 2.0L WRX. I believe they indicated it was 8 - 15Lbs PSI (8Lbs start opening and 15Lbs max), however, actual when I tested the WG pressure it didn't start to open until 10Lbs and maxed at 17Lbs.The extra 2Lbs on a stock engine is a bit of a concern for me as this is on the low RPM side. If it was 8Lbs start open and 17Lbs Max then I would be OK with this because I don't beat the engine (a little acceleration at higher RPM / speed from time-time). In short, since there is more pressure on the lower RPM side and the turbo seems to spool up quickly, I am more gentle at starts so the engine is not fighting higher pressure at lower RPMs.This said, I was able to successfully install the turbo but it was a bit of a hassle. Turns out the exhaust down - Cat flange (big flange) on the turbo is about 5mm-7MM too thick (probably due to cheap metallurgy so needs to be thicker so doesn't crack) and as expected, this causes the entire exhaust system to shift about 5mm-7mm toward the rear of the vehicle. This causes a bolt through-hole misalignment for down-pipe Cat as it shift the mount tab (Cat to trans mount) backward and about 1/2 the mount hole is covered so I had to cut away just enough of the Cat down-pipe mount tab to allow the bolt to install while still holding the mount tab (I was not impressed or happy about this).Air-Duct-------------------------Turbo Inlet: The intake mouth of the turbo is slightly over-sized but not too bad. For the stock Air-duct, I had to scrub the rubber sleeve with orange-GoJo to remove oil residue then lightly grease with high-temp silicone and carefully tighten. (It may be a good time / best time to purchase a quality air-duct assembly and replace the old one but be sure to use silicone to help install)Turbo OutletThe outlet of the turbo (which connects to the inter-cooler) is Over-sized!! and slightly misaligned and too short!! The stock inter-cooler air-tube will Not fit over the turbo-outlet without help. I had to (gently) heat the plastic turbo-side of the duct with a torch and then (gently but firmly) slide the inter-cooler air-tube over the turbo outlet to make it reshape to fit the turbo outlet.Inter-cooler-------------------------Mounting Brackets: Since the moose-twits misaligned and slightly shortened the turbo outlet, when you go to install the turbo inter-cooler, you need to loosen the inter-cooler mounting brackets to reposition them and then you can mount the inter-cooler.Throttle Body: Of course, since you have to shift the inter-cooler to the left slightly (as noted above), you now cause a slight "S" shape in the throttle-body hose. (use silicone and it will work / fit OK or maybe try the Mishimoto hose).Gaskets - Hoses & Clamps---------------------------------------DO NOT reinstall old gaskets / hoses! Used New Gaskets, New copper washers, New cooling and oil return hoses!! (Maybe new clamps too). I chose to use OEM gaskets, hoses and clamps. Note: Although it's a "no-no", I did use the old copper washers (after sanding and annealing them) and they are working well but I recommend to use New copper washers (which are pre-annealed).Also, DON'T forget to pre-lube / oil the Turbo (before) starting the engine!; and (if you care about your engine) and you're engine has the those lame engine-killing banjo-bolt mesh filter screens (anywhere), Remove them!!Bottom line is the turbo still working after about 6mo. but there are some slight installation challenges to overcome. The above notes will address the issues, however, be gentle with the over-pressure (unless of course you have "Turbo-Tuff" rods and bearings and engine was correctly built) :-) see less

No reply from seller

Ran into an issue upon install, contacted seller, no response. The turbo had a couple of differences from the OEM and there was also an issue getting the banjo bolt to thread in. Will have to go another route.

Oil feed Banjo bolt threads are incorrect on my 2006 WRX.

Purchased this to install on a 2006 WRX. The banjo bolt for the oil feed line would not thread in from my old turbo or from the kit I bought separate to install a new oil feed line. I was asked if "modifications could make it fit" and offered a 20$ compensation. However at the time of writing this I am still waiting for a response from the seller on a full refund.Edit: I received a full refund. Adding a couple stars for that
