Effective Heavy-Duty Pick-up Capability
The pro’s are it’s a strong magnet on the end of a quite sturdy telescopic type 2-piece extendable pole/tube (rod), that uses a nifty twist action to lock the desired adjustable length. This device paid for itself after 45 minutes use by finding countless rusty nails, screws, and a couple of tools lost in the thick landscape beds located below a large deck restoration project. The main drawback is it’s weight from that heavy-duty capability results in fatigue on the user’s wrist after a little time. I suppose that a more-ergonomic handle design would help with that issue. Also, I found the rod’s twist-locking would come loose occasionally when the magnet head would get caught on the landscape plants I was searching through, but that was mostly resolvable by using a firmer twist-lock force. Not yet sure of the rust resistance level of the rod; more time is needed. All-in-all, a very helpful tool for sure.

Be aware of the silica gel packet and beads in the box!
Be aware there is likely a silicon gel packet in the box with a good many small clear as crystal beads in it. I did not see any notice of it being included in the description on Amazon or on the outside of the box. The packet in my box was either ruptured or ruptured when I was pulling the tightly packed magnetic rod out of the box. The beads went EVERYWHERE in my living room. It was tedious hunting them down.It is my understanding that there may be health issues to pets if they ingest the packet or the beads, depending on how many beads or how large the packet. If you have pets please use caution when opening the box!The magnetic sweeper does it’s job. The telescoping handle comes loose sometimes & needs a quick adjustment. Satisfied with the product for the price, although would be happier with it if it did not come with a BPA warning. Will be wearing gloves so not too concerned about it.

It works!
We had our garage re-roofed and i saw a few nails in the grass afterword. Bought this to see if it could find any more. Using this, we found 175 mire whole or partial old nails around the four sides of the garage! We just waived it around on the grass, you hear a “click” and a nail is stick to it! The head is kind of small, so you have to waive it in very small rows but it found a lot of nails that might have gone into barefeet! Worth it!

Small head means more work in larger areas, but this gets where larger units can't go.
I bought this after we had the roof replaced on our house, and boy am so glad I did.Even though the roofing crew were pretty diligent and got most of the nails, I was able to collect a small pile of additional ones they missed with their larger magnet on wheels. This got all the ones that ended up under a bush or in some crevice or corner that the bigger magnet missed. When your house is re-roofed the nails go everywhere, it is just part of the process, unfortunately. If you have kids or pets, or even just a car, don't just assume the roofers got them all, spend the small amount of money it takes to get this thing and the boring hour or two it takes to sweep around the perimeter of your house carefully. Stepping on a nail or letting it puncture a tire is no fun.So if you are a homeowner, this is the one you buy, because it goes everywhere, meaning you only need one tool to do the entire job. And once you are finished with it, it stores away easily and won't take up much room in your garage or shop. The head is small, meaning it will take you a while if you want to sweep a large area with it. The magnet seems strong enough to pull even nails that I couldn't see out of wood chips, so it is strong enough to do the job.If I had to sweep a large area regularly, I would still buy this, but also invest in one of the bigger sweepers, as it does take a very long time to carefully cover a large area with the small head of this tool. But for occasional/homeowner use or use in a smaller space, this is fine.

Good tool
This is a great tool for casual use. The magnet is very strong and the tool is quite sturdy. If you are willing to scan the small head over your garage floor it will pick up all the nails etc. if you are routinely searching large areas you need one of the strip type tools with wheels which are a lot more expensive.I don’t often search for nails and magnetic bits but when I do this a good inexpensive solution.

Not as strong as expected - just so-so.
Not as strong as expected - it's great for what it is - a magnet on a stick, but still has to be less than about an inch of anything metal to attract to it or pull it. I was expecting a very strong rare earth type of magnetism, but this is just so-so, so I'm still looking for a really good one.

it works very good
purchased this to pick up metal chips off floor from my milling machine, it works great, easy to reach with its long handle, picks up well, and releases clean too.
