The D1 is the first laser I’ve owned or even operated and so far the experience has been fantastic. It was a fun build and very easy to get going.Being enclosed would have been nice, and the focus system with the little thumb screw is kind of fidly. The lack of homing switches makes positioning a bit of a trick.Overall I have been able to do some beautiful engravings and cuts with wood, and have made some amazing tumblers. I think the sturdiness and community support make this machine a great way to start into lasers.

This laser engraver is fantastic. The assembly was so simple it surprised me. Literally on took me 20 minutes to put it together. It’s rock solid a couple of YouTube videos and your off and running withe the software. Another great feature is it has Wi-Fi connectivity. Love the XTool D1. Another great feature, you can upgrade the laser module to 20W and 40W.

This product is constructed very well. It is made of high quality materials, and appears to be quite reliable. The assembly directions and operating directions were very poor. The videos were difficult to understand, and the directions for assembly and use were lacking. I've experienced a significant trial and error learning curve with this equipment that could have been avoided with a decent users manual.I also sent an email to the company asking a technical question that was not answered.I have high expectations for this equipment once I better understand its capabilities and idiosyncrasies. The user experience could have been improved greatly with a well written users manual.

So Far So Good!For what I am using it for it works great, which is cutting paper products. I will test out the engraving as well just to see it work.But let me tell you what issue I ran into!Only moving one direction?I thought I had a defective unit that only moved in one direction. Searched high and low on the internet and couldn't find a solution. I saw another review that said same thing. I was ready to send this back. When I was playing with the settings in the software, I realized it moved in 2 directions when I clicked cylinder attachment. So I knew that it does physically work in both directions. After some time, it came to me that i plugged one of the stepper motors in the wrong port. And how obvious was it? I plugged the yellow plug into the white outlet and not into the yellow outlet! So hopefully this helps someone else that was like me!I didn't purchase with the cylinder attachment so I had one open port and didn't look at colors when attaching that cable for some reason.

I bought this machine back in November 2021 and I love it! I also have a K40 40w CO2 laser and I am experienced at both. I am amazed at all the negative comments on Amazon as well as the various forums and can only attribute it to amateurs who don't take the time to read the instructions and learn the tool. Like any tool, it does not run itself but requires an intelligent operator. You don't have to be a genius, You just need to take the time to read the instructions read the operators manual and get to know it. If you do that you will love it!

I have had other laser engravers and this is by far the easiest to use. I set it up in about 30 minutes while watching the video. I downloaded the software (there is also a video to get this started) and was able to start engraving right away. There are a lot of resources on their website and some great youtube videos that help to troubleshoot and plan projects. This is a little more expensive than some other "beginner" engravers, but it is totally worth it for the ease of use and the quality of engraving.

Setup was quick and everything fits really well. Xtool video on assembly is hard to follow, it goes way to fast so it’s hard to follow. I found a YouTube video to follow.
