OLYMPUS OM SYSTEM 14-42mm f3.5-5.6 EZ Interchangeable Lens for Olympus/Panasonic Micro 4/3 Digital Camera (Black) - International Version (No Warranty)

It’s not a fast lens, nor a sharp one. You won’t get much bokeh unless you focus on something very close to you. It’s a wide angle at minimum zoom but even at that focal length, is an F3.5. Nothing to write home about.There are two reasons to buy this lens. One is that while you run around in a neat location in the middle of the day, you don’t want to shoulder multiple lenses. Who does? This is an excellent lens for that! Image quality is a bit soft, to allow for its versatility and price. That said, it’s more realistic to how we see things. If you snap well framed photos of something interesting, you’ll have captured exactly that. This lens goes from wide angle to 42mm, covering the range of three M.Zuiko primes in a single more compact lens.The other reason to buy this is to have a way to convert your Oly to a point and shoot when you go out on the town at night. That, unfortunately, is where this lens falls flat on its face. It can take wide angle shots like you’ll need indoors, but the glass is too slow to take good ones without a flash. If you’re considering this lens for that, think again.My own personal solution for this doesn’t involve my micro four-thirds at all. Instead, I invested in a Moment system. They offer a case for my iPhone 8 that costs $35 and a wide angle lens that adds another $60. For a hundred bucks, my F2.0 iPhone is perfect for nightlife photography, as much as a camera with such a tiny sensor and limited dynamic range can be. It’s an excellent solution and the lens fits in either front jeans pocket when not attached to the phone.Bottom line, this is an excellent lens for running around and not carrying other lenses with you, sight seeing during the day when you don’t want to be completely focused on photography but still want to shoot what interesting things you stumble across. When night falls, if you’re still taking photos, best you find a better solution.I ordered this lens here, without warranty, and so far it’s worked just fine. Then again, I’ve never had to send an Olympus lens back for warranty repairs. Your mileage may vary, but I never would have purchased this lens for full price. I anticipated its limitations and don’t feel that it’s worth full retail price. As I’m reviewing this particular purchase, five full stars. It’s only good for what it’s good for, but it handles that with dispatch.

I had an accident with the original 14-42mm zoom lens on my Olympus Pen and so bought this newer lens to replace it. The specification is identical but the new lens is physically more compact and automatically extends when the camera is switched on which is handy. It also zooms electrically and very smoothly although this isn't really necessary since you still have to move a ring on the lens to use the zoom function and the old lens' manual operation was a little faster. That said, it is a really nice lens with good results. Obviously the equivalent from the Olympus Professional range would be better, but the quality of photos with this lens is pretty high and you can't beat it for the price.

The only things I don't like are that the "zoom" ring is actually just activating a motor to drive it in/out, not actual control, and the AF motor is rather slow, making it not useful for CAF on video (which I try not to use anyway). Communicates just fine with that camera (for AF and aperture) and has a small little lens-cap that I haven't lost yet.Otherwise, it seems to be the perfect lens for a tiny MFT camera, like the Z Camera E1. Can fit the whole think in a pocket or fanny pack with a simple tripod or strap for quick use. I have used this combo on a boom-mic stand for a stealthy on-stage camera position.

This lens transforms my use of my E-PL7, being able to get this camera and lens combo in a glove box or hoodie pocket means I have more places where taking my camera isn't an imposition. AF is quick, quiet, and accurate. Sharpness is great in the center and acceptable in the corners(and who is looking at the corners?).

I haven't had much of a chance to use this lens yet. The few opportunities I've had though show the lens to be a good performer. I like the electric zoom feature. Focus is good throughout the range of the zoom. When the camera is off, the lens shrinks down to a 'pancake size' and fits easily into my small camera bag. I'm using it on an Oly 5.Along with the lens, I purchased the Olympus LC-37C lens cap. This is neat. When the camera's turned on, the cap opens up.A good buy for someone looking for a small lens covering the range offered by the lens.

I got the Import model in silver. Came in a totally nondescript box but it was very well bubble wrapped and for all intents it works. It was missing the little plastic protective sticker that most lens caps ship with but seeing as most folks discard that within 2.8 secs of opening it really wasnt missed. No scratches or signs of wear.The lens itself functions better than I expected for a kit lens. But also doesn't hold a candle to a good prime. It's basically compact, cheap, convenient, and makes it easier for me to take my camera with me.

alot handier than the original 14-42mm lens..less bulky..and the images are as good or better..this international versionworks to specs..*if your wondering..for the price..it was only a bit more than a used lens..read reviews earlier about the quirks of this lens..sure, the electronic zoom too a bit getting used too..felt like a point and shoot..after playing with it for a short time..got used to it..and it makes the OM d10 even more easy to carry around..i ordered the auto lens cap as well..and together they work like a charm..now if they d just have a carry case that would fit this set up..

The lens stopped working very suddenly after only 8 months of using. This is the third time this has happened to me with M.Zuiko olympus lens over the past several years -- the problem always seems to be the same: a corroded wire inside the lens stopped transporting electric signal, and as a consequence the lens is not able to focus. Seems like a small problem, but it is impossible to repair.I like the quality of photos obtained with Olympus PEN camera series with the M.Zuiko lens, but after having this experience 3 times already, I have decided to move one and purchase camera & lens from a different manufacturer.

L'ho acquistato per la mia Olympus OM-D E10 Mark IV. È necessario averlo non solo per gli scatti panoramici, in cui restituisce un raggio di ampiezza visiva davvero notevole (vedete successivamente gli scatti fatti su uno schermo di un PC per rendervi conto dei dettagli che riesce a catturare), ma anche da adoperare come obbiettivo base. Ottima anche la gestione manuale dello zoom ottico.

Ich war etwas skeptisch, ein gebrauchtes Objekt vorher nicht sehen können....Ich war auch unsicher, ob es der Pancake-Style ist, den ich wollte.Ich wurde echt überrascht. Es war das Pancake und das Objekt ist in einen absolut gutem Zustand. Gleich Fotos damit gemacht. Ich bin happy! Preis/Leistung stimmt hier. Und die Lieferzeit toppt auch alles, super schnell.Gerne wieder!

I may have previously written a review for this lens, in which I compared it with some Olympus prime lenses.However, having taken it out on a street shoot, over the course of the weekend, I thought I would update my review along with some sample images, taken straight out of the camera.This was the first time I’d used the lens in a while, combined with my Olympus E-PL3 body [12MP]. However, it seemed the perfect combination for a ‘run and gun’ street shoot!I wasn’t disappointed and having reviewed the shots, once downloaded on to my iPad, I was very happy with my afternoon’s work.As you can see, images are clean and whilst I have used the in-built camera filters for one of the pictures, the photos demonstrate how good this lens is, particularly for street photography.The lens is very compact, in its closed state, which allowed me to put the camera/lens in my pocket during a number of rain showers that I experienced; obviously, neither the E-PL3 or 14-42 EZ lens are weatherproof!If you’re looking for a lightweight and compact micro four thirds lens for street and travel photography, I don’t think you can get much better for the money!
