Q: Does it work well with speakers that have an rms up to 40 watts each speaker? i have the klipsch r-1800-c speakers.

I just got this to hook to 2 150w sony center speakers i have and it doesnt drive them a third as hard as my reciever that is only 80w peak per channel, it would probly work beter with your 40w speakers then mine, just dont crank them up so high the start to distort. It's better on speakers to have a higher powered amp because a small amp struggling will clip and damage the speaker. This amp says it is only 200w peak on the back and i doubt its actually half that with normal music, maybe if it charged up fully and had one quick release it could reach 200, but the advertised 500w is total VS! The only way it could hurt my 300w max speakers is from it's highly filthy distortion at high levels
