Great kids book on trees- Perfect for the field!
Great book for families and children. Small, light and thin this book has a nice succinct collection of trees. All the pictures are illustrated (i.e. drawn) so there are no photographs. Even for the adult this book has a nice basic introduction to trees and "monographs" of several of the common North American trees- not a dense book but a great intro to trees- perhaps flip through it once yourself before giving it to your child :)For kids 5+ would be a good book to take into the field and use to identify trees. Like the other books in this series series "Trees leaves and barks" wonderfully hones in on the uniqueness of the tree world in a simple and fun way.Would recommend!

Terrific Books for Children!
My five year daughter has loved these books. I bought this one and another one for her and she had me read them to her dozens of times. The illustrations could be a little better and the quality; however, they are terrific for children. Even as an adult, you will learn quite a few things using these books. They do a great job with the basics: height, age, geographic location, bark, and seeds of the trees. They do a solid job informing you of their uses as well.

Take a book for a walk..
This handy little guide is perfect for taking along on a walk with your kids. It shows several different ways to identify each tree, and includes fun facts about the trees and even a few craft ideas. The only two flaws I could point out are that there aren't ENOUGH trees represented, and that the pages in the back for writing notes on are high gloss like the rest of the book which makes them difficult to write on. Still, it is great for getting kids interested in and thinking about trees. Best for the 10 and under set.

Good for many years
This is a great take-along field guide for young ones. I purchased this for my son, who is 3 and he loves it. I wanted to have it for our hikes in North Georgia and hoped he would grow into it. He actually seemed interested in it very early on. He would even want me to read it to him some nights before bed. He's getting good at recognizing leaves and cones and trees. This book isn't meant for such young readers but is somewhat simple and has great pictures of leaves, bark, cones and trees that will spark their interest early. I think he'll like this field guide for years to come.

They are written in a way that is easy for children to understand and enjoy
I bought the set of three for my grandnephew who loves nature. They are written in a way that is easy for children to understand and enjoy. We have taken the Trees, Leaves and Bark book out on our trail and were able to identify several trees. We can't wait to go out again and discover some more trees. The books have beautiful illustrations with a lot of information. We especially liked the activities that were included and the interesting facts.

A Must for the Outdoors
I purchased this book for our homeschool science unit on trees and leaves. My third grader is an outdoor enthusiast and adventurer. This is a great book! Very detailed and encompassing. It encourages hands-on learning and adventure. I didn't realize it's one of several books in a set of guides until after I purchased. I plan to add several of the other guides to our library.

Perfect for nature/homeschool library
This entire series is perfect for a nature homeschool library or for any nature lover really. We love that they can be easily taken out for field learning. They are packed with all kinds of great information too. Worth investing in all the books like this.
