Very useful

It was smaller than we anticipated but we found an excellent use for it for his recovery. I wish we would have gotten it earlier.

Exactly as Advertised - Great apparent quality & Firm!)

Too early to tell whether this is the answer to my back problems as this is the first roller I've ever used; however after a few uses - so far so good (my back isn't worse:) The roller seams to be everything the seller said it was: great quality, super firm (Can't imagine anything being more firm unless it was made out of concrete or steel:) From all I can tell thus far, I have no reason to doubt that it's going to help my back/health and be a great roller for the rest of my life (based on the lifetime warranty and apparent quality!) So I'll give my rating now and adjust it later if anything negative comes to the surface. Also, I'll give this only 4 stars for travel-ability and leave the 5 stars for the smaller ones, though using this for traveling is NOT why I bought this. In fact, I'm not sure why they have a traveling rating on this product as this is the full-meal deal in the roller world, not a snack!!! (which is exactly what I wanted!)

Works well

I purchased this for physical therapy exercises after total knee replacement. It works well. It does seem to be a bit more firm that I would have liked but it does the job.

Somehow wasn't banned by the Geneva Conventions

Initially this thing is a torture device. The first few days, for a wonky IT band, were tough, even for someone with extraordinary pain tolerance. At the same time, the IT agony began to ease. I started with 30 seconds a few times a day and now I throw in a session whenever the band starts to hurt. I bought the 18x6 version, and I'm six feet tall, and the size is sufficient for the hip, thigh and side of knee. Some tips:You're not going to win early points for elegance. At first you'll be flailing and cursing. Relax. Keep your spine straight. If you're using for the IT band, try a combination of your arms and your other leg to propel you back and forth. I grip the edge of an area rug to pull myself in one direction. Do I look like a crazy person? Oh, yes. Yes, I do.This is an exercise you want to do slowly and deliberately, preferably where you won't be observed by human beings. The pain in some spots will force you to move on, so do that rather than giving up. Be sure to roll the whole area -- that is, don't cheap out for the last six or so inches in your eagerness to start in the next direction. Breathe. In six weeks or so, rolling has become less painful. I'm not sure whether it's because the band had adhesions that I was hitting, and now have broken up, or I wasn't used to the pressure, or the band itself has begun to flex a bit. Whatever the reason, I'm grateful, and encourage users to stick with it.

Porous Foam and Leaky Blue Dye

The roller is made out of foam that is porous and leeches dye. As soon as the product arrived, I wiped it down with some paper towel and Seventh Generation household cleaner because I wanted to make sure it was clean before using. A bunch of blue dye came off onto the paper towel, and after several rounds of cleaning, the dye that came off lessened, but didn't totally stop coming off. Not only is this creepy because who wants blue dye staining their skin, but additionally, however "non-toxic" this roll is, the dye is a synthetic pigment that I don't want my body to have to come in contact with and filter out.Because it is porous, it will be difficult to disinfect and clean. The roller is firm, but has a little bit of give to it. I like the foam density as it is now, but will report back if the foam deteriorates over time. I've used it for massaging my legs and back after yoga. It's too soon to tell whether it helps, but I'll report back again if I notice a miraculous change. To deal with the dye leeching problem, I covered mine with some cotton spandex cloth. This solves the problem, but the product shouldn't have done this in the first place.
