Full Of Holes ( Mis-Information ) But Otherwise Informative...

Would Like To Give This Publication More Stars, More So For The Research And Some Of The Photographs, But.......Where Do I Start, Without Being Too Petty.....BOOK:" Little Julian Herrera Was A Chicano Who Pre-Dated Ritchie Valens By Two Years "THP:Yes, Little Julian Herrera Reached A Large Latino Audience Particularly In Southern California And Did Pre-Date Ritchie By Two Years With His Recordings For DIG ( And Later For STARLA And ESSAR )However, Julian Was Of Hungarian Descent ( Real Name Ezekial ) Who Ran Away From Home At The Age Of 12 And Was " Taken In " By A Hispanic Family In The Boyle Heights Section Of Los AngelesBOOK:" To This Day, A Former Secretary Who Refuses To Speak About Ritchie, Or Her Relationship With Bob Keene ( Keane / Kuhn ) Or DEL-FI Records.THP:Of My Several Visits To The Offices Of DEL FI ( 1962-1964 When Located At 6277 Selma In Hollywood ) The Secretary In Question Was A Lady Known As " Millie " Who Was Always Very Kind And Helpful To Me.I Did Met Bob Keene, However, Most Of The Time I Would " Visit " When He Was Out Of The Office. (I Knew Where He Parked His Car, So I Would Go In When His Car Was Not There )At The Former Offices Of T.V. Guide, DEL FI Had Moved From 1610 Argyle Over To Selma. There Was A Glass Door Entry, A Flight Of Stairs, A Hallway To Another Door, Then The Offices.Tastefully Furnished, Along With A Desk And Filing Cabinets, Bob's Separate Office Was To The Right .( The Gold Record For " Donna " Was On His Wall ( There Was One At KFWB As Well )There Was A Door-way To The Studio On The Other Side Of The Room ( Never Used By Ritchie Valens )" Millie " Would Tell Me Stories About Ritchie, Gave Me Photos, Promos ( Of Current Artists Releases )Thank You Millie For Those Wonderful Times.....BOOK:" It Is Not Known When " Come On Let's Go " Was Recorded "THP: ( From Rene Hall )" I Used To Keep Sort Of A Diary To Keep My ( Recording ) Dates Together "" I Never Made Much Money With That Kid ( Ritchie ) You Know The Kind Of Money I Made With Sam " ( Cooke )" He ( Ritchie ) Was A Very Humble, Polite Guy, And Liked To Listen To The Play-Backs "" I Was On Most All Of His Things He Did At Gold Star "" We Did That One ( " Come On Let's Go " ) During An Evening Session Around The 10th Of October " ( 1958 )" I Never Figured Out ( Bob ) Keene, He Was All Business, And By The Time All Of Ritchie's Stuff Was Edited By Keene," I Didn't Recognise The Record When I Heard It- He ( Keene ) Had A Home Studio Too "BOOK:" Because Ritchie Was Of Light Complexion, Most People Didn't Know He Was Mexican Until After His Death "THP::At Least In Los Angeles ( Particularly In The San Fernando Valley ) EVERYBODY KNEW Ritchie Valens Was Hispanic" La Bamba " Would Not Have Been By Carl Perkins !To Be Fair, The Author Is / Was A Huge Ritchie Valens Fan ( Even Seeing Him In-Person )( The Hollywood Phantom Saw Him In-Person At Pacific Ocean Park. )A Very Good Insight Into The Early Days, Early Addresses, Etc.( Not In The Book, But Bob Keene Once Said That He Dropped By " Ritchie's House " Before He Had Signed Him." The Place Was Really Small, I Asked Where His Room Was And He Took Me Outside To A Small Opening And I Peered In And There Was This Bedding Under The House "" Without Batting An Eye, He Said " - " This Is Where I Sleep "" He Kept His Guitars And Clothes In The House, He Never Owned A Record Player Back Then "" That Coat He Wears In Our Promotional Shots Was His Uncle's "Also, The Author Points Out What Few Knew, That Ritchie And Donna ( Ludwig ) Were Never A Couple .She Also Explains The Stories Actually Behind " Donna " ( Same Tune, Different Titles )It's A Good Read, But As Time Has Gone By, One Must Remember That Others Might Have A Bit Of Mind Fog When It Comes To Recall To Put This All Together. The One Thing I Did Like About This Book, Is That The Author Presents Both Sides Of The Argument(s) When And Where They Apply.....
