Good starter
Starter went onto a 2005 vw jetta mk4 with a 2.0 and a 5 speed. Fit perfect and fixed my hang up when starting the car

1999.5 VW Jetta Mk4 2.0l 5spd manual
So far so good. It's been 500 miles since install and it's working great. It's the second starter in the car, first was a little tired after 274,000 miles. I'd even go as far to say it's a higher torque than the original. I'm completely happy with my purchase. 1999.5 VW Jetta Mk4 2.0l 5spd manual 274,557mi and counting.

Nice starter for 2001 Jetta GLS 2.0 5-speed manual transmission
Worked awesome on my 2001 Jetta GLS 2 l manual transmission fix the squawking noise the old factory starter had works much better for me than the factory starter awesome deal and you don't have a core charge can't beat it I have 15,000 miles on my starter now no problems

Starter defective on arrival
I purchased this for my 2003 1.8T Jetta. This part was defective right out of the box. Unfortunately I did not get the chance to install it until 4 days after the return window so I am unable to exchange it so I do not know if it was just a problem with this one part or if there is a problem with the seller's supply.

Was VERY leery of a starter for $100 less than my parts store's price with free shipping and no core charge but wow. Very happy.
Really had some very serious doubts about this. How can anyone sell a starter for about $100 less than the parts chains with free shipping and no core charge? Couldn't wrap my head around that but I needed a half dozen parts for my daily beater and didn't want to spend $1,000 on a car with almost 200k. Went ahead and gave it a shot. Package got here fast (first one to arrive out of 9 items ordered that day.) Starter looked great, went right on my 2000 VW Beetle without a hitch and has been working fine for over a month.

Exact fit on a 2000 Jetta 2.0l. Easy to install. Took me about 40 minutes. Car has started every time with no issues since install. If your car still doesn't start after install consider jump starting your car. I had to do it with mine but it started right up.
