Trauma Alert: First Responders, Book 1

Intensively & incredibly awesome!!
“She had her reasons, devastatingly painful reasons, for avoiding women who willfully put their lives at risk, whether for duty or just the thrill of danger. She would fight like hell in the trauma unit to save them, but she would never, ever love one again.” “Maybe it didn’t matter. Maybe she didn’t need to control what was happening between them. When fires burned too hot, they burned themselves out.” “She couldn’t settle for less, and she wasn’t sure what she would do with that endless time if she had to.” “She couldn’t settle for less, and she wasn’t sure what she would do with that endless time if she had to.”• ~ • ~ • ~ •Seriously, how incredible is a book that has a simplistically poetic yet still with such titillating complexities as a line like that—how could this book be anything but incredible!!!Its alove story that didn't even need a sex scene to feel the passion & intensity of the fire between Beau & Ali—not saying I wasn't appreciative for them (cause they were definitely 🔥🔥!!), but, they were the cherry on top of a helluva dessert instead of dinner. The story relied on words & emotions not physical actions to present &/or portray the powerful connection with, physical attraction & primal desire for each other—& did so beyond successfully!!

Standard Radclyffe fare
Trauma Alert is the first in a new series from Radclyffe that will feature First Responders, professionals who react to a crisis on the ground level. These books are meant to be romances. Anyone who expects to learn much about how these people are trained or carry out their jobs will need to look somewhere else. With a clearly stated purpose, the characters become the focus of the book. Secondary characters are used to provide background material or to illustrate personality traits of Ali and Beau, but there is no mistaking that this book is mainly about the interactions between them. Though they may appear complicated to other people, the reader will quickly figure out that they aren't really. They are simply two women who have been hurt and haven't figured a way to get over that yet.Radclyffe has a winning formula. She basically writes the same two characters, giving them different names and putting them in different situations in each book, but following the same progression to the same result. It's difficult to argue with success and her many fans prove that they like what she writes. The plot isn't complicated, but the story is well told and there are a number of sex scenes thrown in to spice up the activity. This is a good one for an afternoon or evening of escapism.

Trauma Alert...eh
As usual Rad graces us with the presence of an afflicted butch in need of a strong femme to calm and soothe her like a security blanket. Meet Beau, a hunky firefighter who is as cocky as she is reckless. Meet Dr. Ali Torveau she's strong and will not allow herself to fall for Beau's charms. The story pretty much proceeds how you expect it to, they eventually get together and fall in love. My issue as always was the lack of fulfilling sex, the butch made sexual promises she could not keep and ended up getting topped by the femme once again.I love Rad's writing, she's great at delving into the emotions of her characters and bringing them together, she has lesbian romance down to a science. I just wish she would have more diverse characters and explore other realms of lesbian sex besides thigh-sex.3 stars because I love Rad and I think her hospital setting romances are a great read for having just the right amount of action. Only 3 stars because it's the same story just different names and character issues. She really needs to expand her character base and think about more diversity.

A Good Read
I have read a number of Radclyffe's books and found this one to be enjoyable. I do not think that this is one of her best works, but it is a good read. I thought that I could relate to the story, since I am a Firefighter/medic, but I had a hard time believing the fire scenes. You would never enter a known drug house without police present, or go into a fire alone. Yes, I know, it is fiction. I did like both Ali and Beau's characters and thought that their relationship developed realisticly. I also enjoy the fact that Radclyffe does bring past characters back and that you get a follow up on them. If you like Radclyffe, this is worth reading.

the perfect amount of tension to keep reader invested in outcome...
Radclyffe is exceptional at creating the right degree of tension that keeps a reader engaged and invested in the outcome. She does so in this book as well. Ali, a trauma ER surgeon, and Beau, a firefighter, live for their work... and when they meet during a training course, sparks fly but it takes them time to come to the realization that they may be meant for each other. The character development is thorough and surprising all the same... the love scenes are passionate... and the secondary characters aid the storyline. This is a F/F romance book that has angst, tragedy, passion and love. I enjoyed it greatly. This author rarely misses the mark.

I gobbled another one
This is my second book by this author and I plan to keep going. This is another great read. Ali and Beau were such a turn on! Through all the fog of lesbian romance novels this author writes astonishingly and beautifully. Her descriptions of characters, places, and especially exciting events keeps me on the edge of my seat! Can’t wait for my next book and there is a lot to choose from!

Great book
The romance in the book was really good and captivating the writer has a really good grasp of being able to pull the reader into her world and keep her interested with her descriptive language but the book really lacked in scene differences if they weren't at work, they were at home, if they weren't at home, they were at work. It was as if the author could not come up with any better scenes got a bit dull only saving grace was the characters.

Oh wow
Radclyffe has done it again. She writes so well you are transported into the pages and the worlds she creates, you are swamped by the emotions and the sensuality she makes her characters feel. I have just read this in one sitting snarling when spoken to as I did not want reality to intrude. Wonderfully believable characters and stories written so well you are there. I think this is one of her best and highly recommend you treat yourself to a few hours of total engagement in this tale.

My First Dip
This is the first of Radclyffe's books that I've read and I loved it. I have to admit that I'm always slightly put off by authors who only use one name - no logic to it, it's just how I feel. But I found a long list of Radclyffe's books and decided to dip my toe in to the water. Boy, was it hot! I loved this book and both the central characters. I'm looking forward to reading the second in her 'Trauma' series. I'm a little bit in love with Beau - although I fear I am old enough to be her granny.... :)

Just gets better
You meet Ali in the Justice Series as a trauma surgeon mending broken cop's. She occupies only a small part in that series and I'm glad Radclyffe has given us the chance to get to know her better. I like her sense of humour and her unwavering commitment to her job and patients. It's a great story and I honestly was routing for Beau. If you wanna know what I mean read the book. It's a stand-alone novel and you won't be disappointed.

Beautiful story with action and believable characters with flaws and challenges. Very intense moments between them which added in their chemistry. I am looking forward to read more books of the series First Responders.
