I purchase OEM parts when I can, but sometimes aftermarket is the only option or the financially driven choice. I have had a mixed experience with Dorman over the years with most being ok-to-good. These replacement tailgate hinges seem to be well made.Bought these for my '95 Chevrolet pickup. I purchased the truck out of New Jersey years ago, and while it is surprisingly mostly rust-free, the very end of the bed shows its age. One of the hinges failed and I replaced both the bed-mounted side as well as the tailgate-mounted side (also bought the Dorman product for the tailgate).These appear to be well made, and due to being coated, I expect them to last many years.Replacing these, due to rust, were a bit of a pain. This has nothing to do with how Dorman made them. These appear to be identical to the factory hinges in shape and size. GM used rectangular fasteners (nuts) on the inside of the bed wall for the bolts to thread into. The fasteners more or less have a tension fit in a slot that is stamped into the steel. Due to NJ rust, the fasteners on my truck broke free. I was able to access them by removing the tail lights and getting a wrench on them. To reinstall, I held the fasteners in the open-end wrench with some tape while I got the bolts threaded into them.I was in a rush to get this job done. If I had more time, I would had primed and painted these red to match my truck. One concern was that the gold-tinting from the plating would be a distraction on my red truck. Such small details bother me. Surprisingly I have not found these to be a distraction.

Fits well. Be prepared on older trucks that you might shear the old bolts requiring new bolts. I used two new bolts with a nut and a lock washer that I accessed the back side by taking out the rear tail lights. Also, make sure they are lined up properly the first time you go to close the gate. I used a bit too much elbow grease and bent the right one which I had to bend back. Works fine now.

Replaced the hinges on my 02 chevy s10. Worked great and tailgate with these and new cables works perfect.
