The book has a lot of good and useful information but you have to search for it. It';s a big book covering basic recording techniques as well as ProTools operation. I wished it had been a little more precise... it took a fair amount of weeding thru the book to get the info I needed and some basic PT questions I had were not answered It's a good book if you're just getting started but cumbersome if you know a little and need to go more deeply. But it is a "for Dummies" so that's probably to be expected

If your serious about getting the most out ProTools10 than this is a must have(this edition is up to date with ProTools10). I have other ProTools instructional books (I'm also taking a user certification course at the local college) and those books have been helpful but I really find the layout of "Pro Tools for Dummies" a great addition to the course material. ProTools10 is so deep that its great to get several different approaches and opinions on the softwares capabilities. This book is written in a way that you'll enjoy reading it while at the same time learn all the tools available that are well explained & practical ways to use them. I find this book to have all the technical depth aspects covered in a way that can be understood in a musical way and thus keeping the creative momentum going. Great book!!!

This is a really good book, especially if you have little to no familiarity with Pro Tools. I am really enjoying the book and look forward to continuing through the remaining chapters. In addition to this book I purchased the three other books, Pro Tools 101 and Pro Tools Power and Pro Tools Ignite. I recommend that anyone that is really interested in learning Pro Tools, start with Pro Tools for Dummies, and then as you progress through the book, find the chapters in the Pro Tools 101 Book that are related and work through those chapters as well. After you finish Pro Tools for Dummies, go and do the entire Pro Tools 101 book again before moving on to Pro Tools Power and Pro Tools Ignite.

Good value, but as manual, it's not comprehensive enough, for example, there's zero info on the built-in score editor. However, several pages spent on the "1/4 inch plug." So, best if you're much "Dummy" vis a vis PT. Definitely worthy if you're new to PT, as was I.

This book explains it all for us dummies. It goes into all aspects of the recording process and systems, which is good. but I would have preferred the book be totally focused on Pro Tools. A little dated, as we now have Pro Tools 12.3.1. Still glad I purchased this book though.

Great book!!! There's allot of valuable information in this book. The information is very comprehensive. It teaches you everything from setting up your studio to beginning a project from beginning to end..I would recommend this book to any aspiring music producer as well seasoned producers.. it's probably something in here that even professionals can learn.

I loved Pro tools for dummies as it helped me step by step through the basics to more advanced concepts of using this program. I was a novice to pro tools and am now using my own home studio and doing so with no problems. I recommend this book and I will order again from these fine folks. My book arrived sooner than promised and in excellent condition...

I didn't know anything about the operation of pro-tools until I bought this book. I have my own recording set up and are contemplating getting pro-tools. Has it convinced me? I am not too sure whether I should just stick to Cubase, but the book is excellent - not only does it talk pro-tools but it gives lost of other bits of useful advice about general recording. And for the cost I class it as a bargain - a monthly music magazine costs close to a tenner these days, and this book is far bigger with much more information than a magazine.

a very thick and comprehensive book, that has become my new best friend whilst learning to use protools 10. it covers many different topics, not just protools. these include seting up a studio, mixing desks and mics among many others. excellent value for money and an excellent all in one for the new to recording beginner. would highly recomend it.

This is a manual for Protools 10... PT11 comes out in a couple of months so I guess a new edition will be out soon. It begins with very useful recording tips, which, although they are familiar, didn't hurt to be refreshed. It included tips for optimizing ones computer to cope with protools, recording, editting, mixing and mastering and beyond. I have gone from being a PT novice to having one of my produced tracks on local radio in a month. Excellent!

Grt book well informative for the beginner all that you need to know regarding pro-tool and using it is there. Would recommend to anyone
