Works Great with the Avery template

I see a bunch of negative reviews, but this product worked exactly as advertised to me. I used the Avery template through their website - it's easy and free, so not sure why anyone is trying other tools like MS-Word. My designs are not fancy, but have basic text and simple graphics and were easy to prepare, save and print. I printed the sheets one at a time using my (older) EPSON inkjet printer and they line up perfectly; the perforations just need to be folded back and forth a couple times and tore easily right on the lines, leaving a cover that fits perfectly into an empty DVD case. Highly recommended, just make sure to use the Avery templates!

Great for standard size blank DVD cases.

Was great. Made a last minute change and went with a five disk case. They fit and you can make the design the right size but there was some room on the sides. My problem not the product.

Good paper, but needs a few test sheets.

Took some testing (wasting a few sheets) to get good results but it turned out good and decent quality paper. Note that it is not exactly like the kind of paper that you'd find in store bought dvds and it had perforations next the the spine, but you can't see them when the paper is in the case unless you're looking for it. Overall I like this paper. It's pretty well made and thicker than regular printer paper. You also get a decent amount of paper in a package (20 sheets). Ps. I used printing format A1 to get near perfect results. Your results may vary, but I tried several other setting and A1 is the best I could get using both the Avery program and and my computers built-in print program.

My only headscratch...

I was helping my dad with transcoding the old family reunion tapes to DVD collections. Unfortunately, using normal paper (letter) wasn't working out too well. So, I decided to upgrade to using case inserts. These worked pretty well for me, except for two things, to which one is still a bit of a headscratch:(1) I use Nero Cover Designer, and I discovered the hard way there was no predefined template for these labels. However, I was able to define one using about 7 labels and a standard footlong ruler. I made and inputted 4 measurements:1. Length and width of the entire label;2. Width of the spine (especially since I used standard DVD cases);3. Length and width of the printable area (the insert itself); and4. Calibration printing (labeled as "Position x/y: ").Once I did this, everything printed right nicely.(2) The headscratch: Being able to print using the full area of the label. I remember seeing a few folks here say something about having to trim about 1/2" of blank space off the end of the label. I've had that happen to me, too. Not sure why just yet; I'll have to figure that out sometime later (where I currently live, I can't buy these locally unless I order online and ship to store; and it took quite a number of labels for me to calibrate both software and printer, so waste must be limited on my part).Otherwise, I'd recommend these with little problem. If my dad's happy with the finished products, then and only then am I happy.

For professional looking DVD cases

These DVD case inserts after emerging from your printer make for professional looking DVD cases. If you go to the Avery website and download their templates you are allowed to print the case front, case spline and case back. I downloaded for a Mac and they work perfectly. Of course, a PC user will have no problem. At one time their downloads were only for PC but Mac has finally gotten recognition and it works. They are of a good quality material and with a little creativity from the user and their printer one will have a DVD case to be proud of. With the ease of the spline printing with no guessing on positioning it is easy to reach for a certain title on the shelf.

Works great

I buy these along with DVD cases to consolidate my DVD collection. In order to use this product, you have to download the Avery template for this product and play with it a little bit. My piece of advice is to accept that you'll have to sacrifice one of the inserts like I did to get the words lined up perfectly on the insert with the perforated edges torn off. Then save the template on your computer to use in the future as it's ready to go then.

I hate leaving negative reivews

I hate leaving negative reivews, but unfortunately, these DVD case inserts are very good for 2 reasons. 1) They don't actually fit a DVD case, and 2) the template the manufacturer offers for download on their website isn't very good. As for the dimensions, they are almost a half inch too short and about a quarter inch too narrow. The template they offer as a download on their website is buggy. When I tried to export it as a PDF Word either crashed or simply exported a blank page. The reviews on Avery's website showed at least one person had the same problem. Huge waste of my money and extremely disappointing considering how important these were to me.

Buyer Beware!!

When I read reviews I usually take them with a grain of salt. In this case, they are correct. These labels are difficult at best to use. Don't even bother with the Photoshop template as it is about an inch off from being in the center of the cover. I tried different settings to no avail. Finally I found a review that mentioned changing a printer setting to A4 rather than letter. This was very helpful and worked great... but only on the Word template. For those that do not use Word with pictures, you will need to change the text wrapping on your picture in order for it to work with the template. Avery generally does a good job with it's templates but this one was a real bear and took a few tries and used a ton of ink to figure out. They look nice in the sleeve if you're willing to put the work in.In Word- Change printer paper to A4, Change text wrapping on picture to allow the picture to go across the whole template, I also extended the picture just past the guide line to ensure it printed to the edge.It was not perfect, but very close. - Good luck!
