Subzero18833 51" Heavy Duty Telescopic Arctic Plow Snowbroom with Ice Scraper

When you first get this you might thing what a cheap piece of junk. It’s broken. Well it’s not. Don’t turn the black plastic piece with the arrows on it. Turn the HANDLE to tighten or loosen. Maybe it’s obvious to everyone else, but I am not like everyone else. Turn the handle. Maybe it’s on the cardboard that comes around it, but who reads that?The plow blade itself is so much more effective than a brush which lets be honest in my experience never really worked that well. The handle is stout and overall it feels solid. The foam grip spins around and slides up and down - I guess that’s on purpose. I love the fact that the handle snaps into the plow for storage. I have no idea how the ice scraper works yet, but I suspect it will do just fine.

I have been using this snow broom for over 8 years. This past year the ice scrapper broke so I was beyond happy to see that nothing has changed and the quality is still top notch. Super compact, safe on paint, clears snow fast

I purchased this product almost a year ago just before the hearty winter season began. I like itswidth and how it telescopes for a longer reach. Even when using the entire length of the broomit felt solid. It lasted throughout the winter without a problem. As the temps begin to drop I amabout to take it out of storage in prep for the coming winter.--- Stats -----------------------------------------------------------Broom Width: 15-3/4 inchesBroom Height: 6-1/4 inchesTotal Length: 49-1/2 inches [Inside of broom to tip of Ice Scraper]Short Length: 33-3/4 inches [Outside of broom to tip of Ice Scraper]Handle Diameter: 7/8 inchHandle Cushion: 5 inches long and 1/4 inch thickIce Scraper Width: 3-3/4 inchesThe one caveat is that the broom head unscrews rather easily from the handle whilst being used.One solution is to use some plumbers tape wrapped around the handles' screw end. That seemsto keep it in place a lot longer. It was frustrating having to re-tighten the head every 2 or 3push/pulls of snow.The broom part has two reinforcing pieces of plastic each about 1/4 inch thick and attached on theback with 8 screws. This seems to reinforce the foam broom well so that it stay reasonably rigidfor pushing and pulling snow off your vehicle.I am not sure why anyone would use a snow brush. Just to be clear, a snow 'brush' has the plasticbristles on the cleaning head, not a flat piece of foam like a 'broom'. I have found that snow brushesseem, overall, to be built sturdier than this and other snow brooms I have owned.I broke the head off one snow broom one winter by attempting to pull too much snow off the roof ofmy car. I had to pull out the trusty, but narrow, snow brush to get the rest of the job done. Thatbrush has been in my employ for years and is good standby snow removal tool. I will still use a snow'broom' as the primary snow removal tool because it is more efficient and effective.The ice scraper, on the other end, is serviceable on thin ice; gets the job done in a pinch but I like touse a dedicated well-made ice scraper to get that thick ice off my windows when a Nor' easter hitsus with some nasty sleet. On each side of the scraper are two notches that act as ice chippers.So 4 wonderful stars for the Hopkins snow broom because it removes more snow than a brush. Itseems better built than my last snow broom. It gets one star less because of how easy the headloosens and it does not seem as sturdy as most snow brushes. Quite honestly I find most snowbrooms to be less sturdy than brushes, not just the Hopkins snow broom.In spite of the caveats I would buy this broom again. So far it has survived one New England winter.

I have used this for 2 winters now in New England, and an so happy I purchased it! I am very short, so clearing the snow off the top of my car is usually very difficult. However, this snow brush makes it a breeze. Beyond that, I’m not worried that I am going to scratch my paint because while the foam part is great for clearing snow, it is also very gentle. The reverse end is great to remove ice from windows on really icy days. Overall, the product was very easy to set up and take apart at the end of winter. I highly recommend purchasing this as it does a great job and still has a lot of life left 2 years later!

This is really helpful to remove snow from your car. The only problem is that the handle does not stay screwed into position when telescoping it. By swiveling, it makes it more difficult to remove the snow.

Like other reviews, the head does have a tendency to loosen. I found if I hold the scraper end with one hand and keep a little clockwise pressure on it, it stayed tight enough. I live in Wyoming, so have been able to use it 3 times since getting it last month. I would highly recommend this product and seller.

Very useful especially if you have an SUV. Clears snow quickly and has a long reach for the roof. The ice scraper is not great. I still use my old brush to clean around mirrors and for the ice scraper

I had doubts, as the head seems to be made of foam. But it's long and strong and easily clears snow of the roof of my tall SUV. Great long head cleans the windshield in now time. A great purchase can't go back to old style snow brushes now.

We have a Pick-Up Truck and this is perfect for getting across the truck bed and other parts of the vehicle. It can handle a lot of snow and seems sturdy. Great addition for your Winter Gear!
