Kuryakyn 5436 Low Profile LED Taillight with Red Lens and License Plate Light

I bought this light as a replacement for the stock tail light on my '98 Sportster. I was looking for a more monochromatic look for the bike and this fit the bill nicely. I had found a picture online of a newer Sportster with a low profile, smoked tail light, liked the looks of it and started searching. While this light isn't quite as low profile as the one in that particular picture it did cut about an inch off the stock profile and has really helped to change the look of the bike. The Kuryakyn comes with different hookups for different bikes which means that I can use this on any bike I get in the future. Keep your stock tail light around so you can swap them out if you get a new bike... at $130 this is a part you don't want to keep buying. It's a bit pricey for a light but if you're only making a few cosmetic changes I suppose it's worth it.When you turn the bike on the red LEDs immediately come on. When the brakes are depressed it glows a much brighter red signaling your intent to slow down and stop. I've had no issues with visibility with this light and no need for any sort of voltage conditioner or other add-ons due to this being LED. In fact, the LED circuit board plugs right into the bulb socket of the stock tail light guts so really all I had to do was unscrew the original lens, removethe lens, plug in the LED (put a gasket on to keep out water... supplied) and screw the new lens to the bike. It took 4 minutes... maybe 5. I posted photos on the main page.

Nice and bright. Tail function an improvement, but the stop function is a MAJOR improvement over the old single bulb stock look.The foam backing gasket is bulky and makes it difficult to secure the product to the base without substantial pressure to compress the foam to allow the screws to reach the holes, but it's functionality will prove worth the effort in weather on the circuit board.I enlisted help to hold the bike so I didn't push it off the jiffy stand as,I pressed the gasket flat... that much pressure.My only dislike.. my old chrome Willy G lens cover won't align with the new screw holes bc of the base bulk. After the warranty elapses I will probably retro fit the piece and attach it to the lens with a glue.

Nice light, looks good. Like most LEDs, it's not quite as bright as the factory light unless you are at just the right angle. Was a breeze to install, just unplug the main connector from your OEM light, coat the connectors and pins with the supplied dielectric grease and install the seal. There was still a gap coming through the fender side with the supplied foam seal in place, so I added some caulk to keep the water out.Really cleans up the look of your bike if you get the matching turn-signal covers. My old sportster looks almost like a CVO now. OK maybe that's pushing it...but it looks great with my custom grey paint job. Very smooth compared to the harsh red OEM assembly.

I have a 2007 Electra Glide Classic, FLHTC. This was an easy, 5 minute swap out from the original brake light.I have received nothing but good comments from my friends that ride about how bright it is and asking where I purchased the light. Some of them are even folks the believe HD parts are the only parts that should be used on an HD.The fitment on Amazon showed it would fit my bike, but the packaging on the light didn't list my bike. It was a perfect match.I believe the brighter the brakes the better, so if your bike doesn't have an LED brake light I suggest getting this one

Did a lot of looking on Amazon. Funny thing is I didn't find it on Amazon. I did a search on Bing and this light came up. Did a copy/paste and lo and behold it pops up. Read an article the other day that these tech giants only allow you to see the content they want you to see, i.e. steering you to their products. this is a prime example. Any how, fit perfectly and arrived fast. Came with everything I needed to hook it up.

I bought a Kuryakyn LED kit (turn signals and tail light/brake light) years ago, and after about eight years, the tail light died. So, I replaced it with this model (bought on Amazon). It worked flawlessly for two months, and now I have no brake light. If it had continued to work for years, I would have given it five stars.The good is that Amazon replaced the unit and shipped it overnight. If the new one works for years, then I will update this to give it five stars.From a looks and fit standpoint, this thing is great. Just wish I would have gotten more than two months out of it before it took a crap.

got this for my brother's 2005 sportster. wow is it bright. Works fantastically. Although it was not simply plug &play some one somewhere wired something backward. I had to cut and splice the wires on the new tail light as the wiring for the running light and the brake light were done up backwards on this tail light. After fixing that though everything is now perfect.

Works as good as the dealer product for a fraction of the price. If it goes out before you think it should, just buy another one. You’re still ahead. I’ve had mine on my bike for over a year now with no issues.

Just installed this on my 2017 road glide special. Install was about 5 minutes. No comparison to stock tail light this thing is nice and bright. The profile makes the backend look so much nicer.
