Best Sound Quality of this cd available. Great packing and book .
Those in the know are well aware of this classic 1967 Small Faces U.S.A. only release, so I won't bore them with how great this album is. I will simply say that this two cd 2014 remaster set is the one to own. The sound quality is better on this release than on any other incarnation. The two cd's are housed in a beautiful hardbound book style cover, with extensive photos and history. If you are a fan of There Are But Four Small Faces you should not hesitate, buy this cd !

'There are but Four Small Faces' includes DJ mono copy and more
I am a jaded Small Faces et al fan. I thought I had heard all the Immediate material. This album is my all time favorite and this is the definitive edition, including I had not heard before! CD1 is a really nice sounding Stereo US There are but Four Small Faces, with some bonus tracks of alternate mixes and tracks, similar to previous releases. CD2 begins with a MONO DJ version. The 1st cut, Itchycoo Park, has Steve Marriott's vocals, really low in the mix on the first verse in order to do a voice-over. The rest of the album sounds like a MONO mix, with some enjoyable differences that a purist will appreciate. The final 3 tracks include the MONO Here Come The Nice (USA Version). On top of that, there is a lovely bi-fold album with affixed booklet recording information, photos, album photography and more. This release makes my previous copies redundant

Essential Faces(small)
3 years before their stint with Rod Stewart these 5"5-5"6 lads his the American rock radio with "Here Come The Nice" and the even bigger "Itchycoo Park" with their psychedelic allusions. Backing those tracks up are other great tunes along the lines of "Bedfordshire" and a pre-Stewart "My Way Of Giving". More psychedelic in track lineup than their UK lps, this sure delivers the Summer Of Love Goods.

Itchycoo Park was the big hit at the time, but most of this album still sounds very good. "Tin Soldier" can still rock with the best of them. It must've been one of the first " heavy metal" type songs out there.

Finally!
This is the best sounding Small Faces CD I have ever heard! Bright, crisp and excellent stereo. This is the US version of the Small Faces' Immediate Records debut album, with a different track listing and the non-LP singles. A must have!

Nothing new here; avoid this dud
The material on this lp has been re-issued numerous times so why this umpteenth reissue? This particular US lp was of interest to Small Faces completists because it contained one rare track not available elsewhere: a different mix of the pop-psych nugget Green Circles (usually referred to as the 'slow' version). This particular track has never been reissued on any CD from a master tape and it is NOT included on this CD either (the common UK stereo mix was substituted). In addition, all tracks are subject to slight noise reduction. The Varese label is usually of a high standard but they put out a useless dud here. There is no reason to buy this turkey. Get either the Whapping Wharf compilation, or the 35th anniversary issue or the recent Deluxe Edition (all available on Amazon) if you want to get these tracks in superb sound.NB: The master tape of the 'slow' mix was discovered after the release of the Whapping Wharf Launderette compilation but no one has bothered to include it on subsequent Small Faces reissues. It is however available on the Internet if you dig around

One of the Great Albums
This was the American version of The Small Faces' first Immediate album. As was often the practice at thetime, the precaution was taken in America to ensure that the artists’ singles were includes on the albums and moreover there were often fewer numbers on these albums. This meant that in several cases more albums could be released than in Europe. This phenomenon is known from many of the greatest acts of the time like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and The Kinks. Whether there was similar ulterior motives behind this Small Faces release is uncertain; in any case, there were no extra Small Faces albums released, although actually only 12 tracks were put on "There Are But Four Small Faces" and seven tracks from the European version were omitted. At any rate, "There Are But Four Small Faces" is a great album; one of the greats of this era. The three singles "Tin Soldier", "Here Come the Nice" and "Itchycoo Park" are great classics, and the two B-sides "I'm Only Dreaming" and "I Feel Much Better", which were not included on the European version, are both charming psych-pop mixed with a good portion soul. This applies by the way to the whole album, where no tracks fall through. But is there really a need for this release when now all tracks are also found on the deluxe edition of the European album. Maybe not – but personally as a big fan of the group, I think it is fine and lovely addition to the music collection and to a very reasonable price. Some bonus tracks are previously unreleased versions or at least hard to find. There are both a stereo and mono CD, and in some case there are quite marked differences between the two versions. Also a fine booklet with relevant and interesting information. And yes, the music some great – as crystal clear as it gets.
