C#: Programming Basics for Absolute Beginners (Step-by-Step C# Book 1) Kindle Edition

This is the first book in Nathan Clark’s excellent series on the C# programming language and other programming languages. It displays that rare ability that Nathan Clark has: He can take a complex subject and make it easy to understand. Clark follows a basic principle of education in IT subjects, learning by doing. He provides practical examples of each of the topics, making them easier to follow and understand. The book also provides a detailed overview of C# and explains to the reader what a person can and can’t do with it, as well as comparing C# to other programming languages that can be used within the Microsoft .Net framework, which is part of the Microsoft suite of products. This book has chapter on all the important sub-topics that C# programming comprises: The History of C#, The C# Compiler, Data Types, Variable, Constants and Literals, and Type Conversion, just to name a few. C#: Programming Basics for Absolute Beginners is an excellent guide for students who want to learn about this topic on their own or for instructors who are looking for a suitable textbook.

I don't have a computer or programming background, and its a little late in the game for me to be looking toward a new career. I do, however, want to become knowledgeable so at least I can "talk the talk" This book was great as even a novice like myself could understand the concepts. I have tried to read other programming books, and frankly, they might as well have been written in Greek. Not so with this book. This book will serve as a great foundation for continued studies of the subject

My first impression of this book is that it sucks! The reason is because it does not explain that the first six chapters are meant to be an overview of C# language and are they are not teaching code.Once I understood that the first six chapters were intended to be read ONLY, I found myself enjoying the book much more.Starting at chapter 7, the book begins teaching with the traditional "Hello World" function. Then, each function that it teaches is independent of any other function. Because each example is independent, this book is an excellent reference on how to use each function.As I write this review, this book, and the two sequels, are FREE. So, how can I not recommend it?If you are learning C#, or if you need a reference manual, get the three books in this series. Just be sure to only read the first six chapters.

Nathan Clark has the amazing talent to communicate on a basic level. In programming and the multiple languages is just that. A different language. He acts as your very own Rosetta stone. The book starts off with a definition of what C# is and followed by an example. Too many times I have how-to without numerous examples. This book has them, never leaving you in the dark. I highly recommend this book for those just entering the realm of programming or those who want a refresher.

Very good use of repetition and breaking down what each element is showing. Will definitely check out the next books to follow

Let me state that I am new to programming, so I would consider myself, an ABSOLUTE BEGINNER. On the very first page the book states "this guide is aimed at newcomers to C#. If however you are completely new (completely new sounds like what? AN ABSOLUTE BEGINNER!!) to programming, I recommend first reading our primer to programming." And my response to this is "listen jackass, if I wasn't new to programming I wouldn't have bought a book that states in the TITLE, "Programming Basics FOR ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS"".Okay now that I got that off my chest, let get me started on this "guide" for absolute beginners, I'm simply going to leave one example, give my final thoughts, and let you make your decision after that. So this robot/broken human being who can't connect with people on any level thought it would be a good idea to write a book, or excuse me, a "guide" on programming, an example is as follows.p.263.9 Interfaces"An interface is a contract that a class must abide by. So in an interface you have function definitions. Then in the class which uses the interface you will have further information to the interface function. An example of interfaces is given below. We will see this in further detail in the interfaces chapter in Book 3 of the series."At this point refer back to the pictures attached to the review. Those are the pages leading up to, and following the 3.9 definition of interfaces. At no point does the author take time to break down what the code means, he simply gives you the definition, the code, and moves on. I guess assuming that you understand. For this example I turned to a random page, I simply opened the book, typed the text, and took a picture. I could've done this for any page, they are all the same, there is no difference.Now you know. You have a sample from the book, and you know that this sample is indicative of the entire book. If you can learn from this, more power to you. If you're like me, and probably most human beings who need a new concept explained, then you will want to consider other books.

Wirklich sehr basic, mit einigen offensichtlichen Schreib-, Layout-, und Kapitelfehlern. Kann ich nicht wirklich empfehlen, nicht mal für Anfänger. The C# Programming Yellow Book kostet einen € für Kindle und ist um Welten besser.

Easy learning

For anyone who has not had much experience in programming this book is a great resource that would help in step by step tutorials of what to do as a beginner. I feel that many people inexperienced in this field or just beginning a career in it would benefit greatly by reading this book.Recommended.
