Great, though not as fine as you may expect.
This is easily the best fountain pen I have tried so far. A smooth and constant inkflow, and very well balanced barrel make both writing and drawing a joy.The package contains 4 black cartridges, a small leaflet, a refiller cartridge, and the pen itself in a metal case debossed with the rotring logo (which makes a handy pencil case). The only downside I have found so far, is that the nib isn't as fine as you may expect - tested against Rotring fineliners, the line width is somewhere in the range of .25-.3. Despite this, I would recommend the pen without hesitation.

Pleasant pen.
After some research into fountain pens, I felt that this particular model seem suitable to my needs - I had previously relied upon cheaper models which were prone to poor ink flow and unreliable nib quality. This is by no means an expensive, top of the range pen, but suits my needs (and wallet) quite well!I haven't measured the nib but when lightly pressed to paper seems equivalent to a .05 fibre nib. There is no flex obviously, but it provides a smooth flow which is enjoyable for sketching and writing. The only thing I don't like so much is that you can't place the cap atop the pen whilst using it - I will probably lose it at some point, but oh well.

Pretty good.
It's basically a fountain pen with a nib handle. Flows well, line is more uniform than an ink and nib set up. Would rate higher, but sometimes the ink stops mid-flow, but that might be something that improves with practice.

Excellent sketching pen!
My father bought me this years ago and I've treasured it ever since! I always use it to sketch with! (Mine's a broad nib though and I've bought the Fine nib for my niece as I always thought mine was just that little bit too broad (as I like to write with it too). The only disappointing thing for me is that it comes in a slim triangular cardboard box. I wish they still used the old tin that mine came in as it's so hand to keep a couple of other pens and pencils and cartridges in. But hey ho, the pen is excellent! I hope she likes it as much as I like mine :)

The most comfortable pen I've ever used
These pens are light and well balanced with a smooth action. An extension of your hand. The most comfortable pen I've ever used and the nibs glides, and hasn't as yet drags, across different grades of paper. The ink (Rotring) flow is free and even, even when used up-side-down. This combination of pen and ink is just brilliant. If you have made your own quills you should appreciate these pens. I bought 1 and liked it so much I bought others with a selection of nibs.

Nib is not very fine. It is useful but has limitations.
I purchased this pen with an extra fine nib, which is really not very fine at all. It is a shame as it's great to have the continuous feed of an ink cartridge, but for my fine work I have gone back to a dip pen with Indian ink, which has the advantage of being waterproof, whereas Rotring cartridge ink is not waterproof, but to be fair it would clog the pen if it was. I haven't found the holy grail of drawing ink pens yet. But having said this, it is still a useful addition to my art box, good for uninterrupted sketching and for larger pen and wash paintings (the pen needs to go on after the watercolour though unless you want the ink to run). It also writes really nicely.

not worth the cost
Thought I'd try the ArtPen sketch out for some sketching. Got to say that it's not worth the cost at all. Apart from it being a bit scratchy the ink flow is irritatingly inconsistent. I'll be drawing in some lines and it will just stop for a few tries then start again. It gets extremely frustrating after a while, especially since a cheapo parker at half the cost doesn't have these problems. Considering the ArtPen struggles with its sole purpose I won't be using it again. Another minor niggle is that the lid isn't meant for storing on the end of the pen. No big deal until you lose it.If you're considering trying out a fountain pen for sketching then I would recommend an ink filled rollerball pen, fine liner or similar instead. Something like the Pilot maica/hi-tec, uni-ball, staedtler, sakura pigma, tombow fudenosuke, to name but a few. Depends what you're doing with it.
