Works Perfectly

Been in electrical & controls for 40+ years. Not sure what "John Q Customer" was doing, but do not follow his wiring. This will eventually burn up the control, which is why he felt the heatsink getting super hot.I bought this to control speed of a 12vdc bilge fan I bought for a swamp cooler.Follow the wiring diagram. IT IS CORRECT.RED-connect to (fan+) & 12vdc supply POS "should be 3 wires"Black-connect to 12vdc supply NEG "should 2 wires"BLUE-connect to (fan-)Essentially, the control is regulating the NEG not the POS.

Don't buy

I hooked two of these up today Oct 28th 2023 and both of them burnt up. I have used these in the past and worked great these two are burnt were you can't tell what they are. Thank the lord I had gloves on when I ripped them out.

Fails under limited use

I purchased two of these for light duty use. Used in an application that controls a small light duty 12 volt 50 rpm motor. The motor is turned on for a couple of seconds then off. Some time later it does it again. This happens maybe 20 times a day.One unit started blowing fuses and has developed a dead spot when adjusting it. So far the other one is still working. 50% percent, not badThis is very limited use. I can only imagine what happens in a more active environment.Don't but it. Build it.

so far so good.

wasn't sure whether to trust this but I have had it on for over an hour and it seems to work fine. Wiring is confusing just follow the directions on Amazon. Have no idea how to mount on a panel or where it is supposed to be mounted can anybody help?

Diagram seems wrong. Doesn't offer 100% voltage pass thru.

To get mine to work properly I had to wire the red and blue together and place them to positive, the black wire went to one side of my fan and the other went to ground. When I wired it according to the diagram on there product page, the power was 100% and constant, the knob was useless, no on/off and no variable voltage, until I wired it my way. The heat sink does get very hot, but that is normal, it's not enough to catch the curtains on fire. Could use a cooling fan on the heat sink. Otherwise it works nice, has a pretty decent smooth voltage transition. I'm supplying a 12 volt 90 watt radiator cooling fan, that I'm using as an actual fan in a chandelier project. My power bank 12 volt output is rated at 8 amps, so I'm guessing your safe up to 8 amps at least. I've heard others are powering up to 120 watts without problems. Also heard some have burn't out completely on low wattage motors too, so it's a risk either way you look at it. I just got lucky.Update: Just noticed at full throttle the regulator doesn't send 100% power. My 90 watt 12 volt fan is only running 1/3 speed as opposed to direct power.
