Great product, Great Price, but a PAIN to Install on HYBRID model!

These work and fit just fine. The installation on a 05 Civic Hybrid is kind of a pain. It's tough to get to the front shock tower nut because of the seat and hybrid battery frame. It took every swivel and extension combination I could come up with, plus the surrounding sheet metal in that area is all unfinished/sharp, meaning I left skin and blood behind. Couldn't have done it with gloves since I needed to feel where the stud comes up through the opening. This job will try your patience on a Hybrid.I bought front and back from Detroit Axle, have not yet installed fronts. The original backs were totally shot, and with the backs replaced the ride is acceptable. There is no need for an alignment with just rears changed, so I'm going to wait a bit on the front swap.Ride height is 7/8" higher with this versus the worn out shocks I replaced. Not sure whether it's back to what it was when new, I only have the worn-out height for comparison.

Get a tie rod fork and mallet, just in case!!!!

Fit correctly on my 2003 civic hybrid. 330,000 miles on the original ones, so yeah they needed replacing badly. Hardest part of the job was getting the tie rod ends freed. I tried all the tricks seen in videos, but nothing worked including trying to pry them with a tie rod end fork, wacking the strut with a heavy mallet, and wacking from the bottom on the reversed castle nut. Spent 90% of the job time on just the tie rod ends. Finally lubed up the wedge part of the tie rod fork, put it between the tie rod end and strut, and just kept wacking the end of the fork handle like driving a chisel, and wammo it finally popped free. On the other side did just the chisel method and had it free in no time. BTW, recommend you have a breaker bar or long handled ratchet, large large sockets, and an impact bit driver definitely helps. ALSO - you will probably need an alignment after you do the job (my steering wheel is not lined up when going strait, but drives strait... go figure). Been driving over a month now and would buy again.

Great struts but the links are free for a reason.

The rear struts replaced the stock worn out ones. Easier instal with two people but simple enough to do alone. Removing the stock end links was a pain due to not having any flat spots on the back side to get a wrench on it. Only one of the studs turned during install which I would like to see no turning on a fresh part.However the links do not come greased and the grease fittings seem to be made out of a very soft alloy. The first fitting blew out of the link when putting grease to it. The threads were mostly still on so either they put the wrong ripple into the elbow or it's just garbage fittings.I bought this for the struts and thought the links were a nice touch. Now I know why they were included and will be replacing them again with something other than detroit axle.

I was very pleased to find a complete strut assembly for this unbeatable price. they have been in service on my 2003 civic si for one month now. No issues, they fit well and the quality is good. I will update this review in evaluation of the service life of this item.

Easy install, perfect fit

Easy install, perfect fit. I will try to update this review in a couple of years because a considerable amount of this products performance will not show until after a lot of use.To other buyers, instead of buying tools to carefully remove the existing tie rod ends, consider replacing those as well. If the struts have worn out, chances are so have your tie rods. In that case, you can just remove the tie rod nut and hammer the bolt out of the strut instead of carefully removing it to reuse it. That is what I did.

Wrong Parts

Someone at Detroit Axle shipped me mismatched front struts. They were the correct parts for my car, but they were made by 2 different manufacturers. I did not want to install mismatched struts for fear they would ride and wear differently. I was not able to resolve the issue with DTA (their phones were always busy); so in a time pinch, I decided to install the mismatched struts. It turned out that the mismatched one (Raybestos, not DTA) was faulty and could not be installed. The mounting points were misaligned. I'm now driving on 3 new struts and 1 old one while I wait for the Monroe struts I ordered to arrive.I think I can understand the mix up in shipping. The part numbers were correct on the boxes (1433, 1434), but the boxes are clearly marked as being from different manufacturers. I forgive DTA for this problem, but the whole deal ended up costing me a lot of extra time and $, so I will not reward them with my business again.

Product is great I like using there products on my vehicles. Reason for 2 stars is the fact that i ordered through them and then my credit was used multiple times at places local to them. So use caution when ordering. This will be the reason I stop using their parts.
