Perfect for when your A/C coil goes out!
PERFECT!!Installed on an â09 CR-V. These carâs have an issue with the magnetic clutch coils going bad resulting in the compressor not being able to engage. Item was great, and fit perfect. This was the 2nd time that I had to replace a clutch/coil on my CR-V, the previous car was unfortunately in an accident. Takes about 5 hours to complete the whole job. Not a whole lot of room to work with so removing the compressor from the car was easier in my case. Air blows cold now!

Longevity uncertain, but these appear to be working well.
We hvae the same AC compressor on two vehicles here, and as luck would have it, we had one of them fail back in mid April, and the other just two weeks ago during our hot/humid streak of weather. (Thankfully we have a spare car with AC!) Installing these was a little bit tricky but, on a third generation CR-V, the clutches can be replaced by unmounting the compressor and repositioning it to sit at an angle where you can reach it from beneath the vehicle. Unmounting and repositioning the compressor actually takes a lot longer than replacing the clutch! While you can do most of the work with a metric socket set and extensions, you may also need a 3-jaw puller to get the pulley off. You will, however, need long Circlip pliers to get the two retaining rings out of the center of the compressor (which old the pulley and coil on). For both replacements, I ended up using only one of the shims. (You will need a feeler gauge to check the gap between the armature and pulley.)As our issue with these compressors was the coil failing (a repeat of the same issue we had with these in 2017 and 2018), the AC clutch coil relay is most likely burned out as well. Just replace it. I bought a WVE (NTK) relay, part number 1R2085, for about $9. BUT if you have something other than a third-gen CR-V (2007-2011), you will need to look up the correct relay part number before ordering. The dealer quoted $1,950 to replace the AC compressor (up from the $1,060 we paid in 2018!!). For $70 each in parts (this clutch/coil kit, plus the relay), I had both vehicles back on the road with an afternoon's worth of work. Time will tell how long these coils last, but even if they last only a couple of years, we're still ahead on cost!

Good quality
I was able to replace my AC pulley using this kit. The only thing that was making noise was the pulley in the AC compressor, but I ended up replacing the coil along with the clutch. I'm really happy with the results.

Honda CRV A/C is working again!
Had intermittent A/C issues and it turned out to be the clutch coil getting weak when it got hot, and releasing the clutch to the compressor. This Dorman Clutch was exactly what was needed (and very economical as well). Installed the clutch a couple months ago and it has been working without fail ever since.

Almost an exact fit...
This is a very cost effective solution for a situation where the compressor cycles due to clutch engagement issues. The Honda dealer quoted $3,500 to replace the entire compressor and recharge the system. This replacement was a little over 2% of that and solved the problem.Be forewarned; clutch replacement on CRV's is not for the feint of heart. It took me over 5 hours to complete what should have been a 45 minute swap. There is NO room to work. This would have been a 5 star rating except the snap rings provided we're not beveled like the originals. Took a while to discover that. Dave the original snap rings and reuse them.

Well it did work
Works hopefully longer than the last cheaper one but the snap rings supplied with the kit didn't fit had to use old ones. Edit- update it didn't last already died, it worked great for about 3 weeks then during a 90â° week it failed/died and took the compressor with it.

Have your own shims ready!
I had seen in some Youtube videos comment that Dorman only provide shims that are all the same thickness. I found this to be true with all being 0.50mm so had to double up on 2 shims and end up close to upper end of maximum gap tolerance(0.65mm). If I had used only 1 I would have been well below minimum tolerance(0.35mm). I selected using 2 shims as less bad choice Other than that, product worked well but this is a significant oversight - the tolerance range is 0.30mm so whatâs the point of providing only 0.50mm shims?!? if you do this job on a Honda CRV itâs a major PiTA and I will not be amused if I need to repeat the disassembly to re-shim.

good fit
make sure you have a quality pair of c clamp pliers with long nose to pull the clamps off the shaft of the compressor , its the only part that was hard to do . I found it easier to pull the 4 bolts holding the compressor in place without disconnecting the a/c lines to move the clutch toward the front of the car for better clearance . this is a quality part

Everything you need to replace AC clutch
Everything was included and repair went fine. Replacing a compressor clutch on the vehicle is an intermediate level mechanical task. If you are a rookie just bite the bullet and remove the whole compressor. A good pair of long reach Knipex snap ring pliers is a MUST. The type with interchangeable pins, etc just won't cut it. Also, spend the time to properly shim the clutch plate to the proper air gap to the pulley face. Do all this and you will be happy with this kit. Shims and snap rings were correct size.
