Q: Does the WG252 work on a 20 volt 2.0 battery or does it have to be 4.0

It will work with both the 2.0 and the 4.0 (I use both with mine). The difference is the 2.0 has less run time per charge and will require more frequent charging.

Q: Would like to add extra handle but would like to know the diameter of the pole.

Worx makes a handle assembly that will fit perfectly to the pole. But it is a challenge to get them to order the parts. It is the handle assembly that comes on their WG349. If you can get them to give you the drawing on that unit it shows the parts needed to put one on you long reach hedge trimmer.

No. The battery attached to the pole.
